Ross Travis arrived at Penn State to play basketball. He left as a football player — signed by the Kansas City Chiefs without a single college snap at tight end, on athleticism, discipline, and the willingness to start over from nothing.

What followed was seven seasons across six organizations. To anyone outside the league, a team change looks like a headline and a new jersey. Inside it, a team change is a phone call that gives you twenty-four hours to move your life. The condo in one city, the car in the garage, everything you own — all of it left behind mid-season while the job demands total focus somewhere else.

For years there was one solution: a family friend in the car business who treated every vehicle as if it were his own. He would collect the car, handle every detail, and deliver it without being asked twice. That was the standard. Ross assumed it was normal.

Then came the season the friend was unavailable, and the open market answered instead. A week of silence from a dispatcher who had subcontracted the job twice. Belongings offloaded into a warehouse nobody had mentioned, in a state nobody had agreed to. Damage discovered at delivery, followed by the runaround — the broker blaming the carrier, the carrier blaming the broker, and nobody answering for the car.

The problem was not bad luck. The problem was structural: the person you hand the keys to and the person who answers for the outcome are almost never the same person. So he built the company where they are.

First Team Transports owns its trucks, its trailers, and its insurance. It employs its drivers. It never brokers a load. It is the company Ross needed for seven seasons and could never find.
